The classic Negroni is a combination of three different alcoholic ingredients; Gin, Red Bitter Aperitivo and Sweet Vermouth. A large part of creating YOUR perfect Negroni will be down to your choice of these ingredients.
All of the ingredients we recommend here are perfect for making a classic style Nergoni and are of high quality. However, the combination of ingredients that works best for you, is for you alone to decide!
Happy mixing & happy experimenting!
Gins
Neutral alcohol distilled with juniper and other âbotanicalsâ such as citrus peels, roots and spices. Every gin has its own unique recipe of botanicals and method for attaching their flavours to the alcohol base creating an infinite number of possibilities.
Bitter Aperitivo
A red, bittersweet aperitivo originating from Italy . Typically mixed into cocktails or served with sparkling water or orange juice. Usually drunk before meals to open the appetite; ie Aperitivo.
Sweet Vermouth
A sweetened âfortified wineâ with a dark brown / reddish colour depending on the brand. A âfortified wineâ is one that has distilled alcohol added to help preserve it, and Vermouths also have herbs and botanicals steeped into them. The name Vermouth comes from the German word âvermutâ meaning wormwood, an essential ingredient in a vermouth’s recipe of herbs and botanicals (except in the US).Â
