How to make it

Get nerdy with it
BLANCO TEQUILA Pour whatever you’re preference is here, you may be mixing it with lime and Cola but, don’t think that this will hide bad Tequila! Your head won’t thank you the next day either…
FRESH LIME JUICE If you’re just making one or two drinks, cut a lime in half and squeeze it into the glass, then discard it. If you’re making a few more for a party, squeeze your lime juice ahead of schedule for speed and ease.
COLA If you’re in the US, do yourself a favour and get the good stuff from Mexico.
Why we chose this recipe for you
The Batanga is essentially the same drink as the Paloma, except Cola is used instead of Grapefruit Soda. It’s said to have been created in Mexico in 1961 by Don Javier Delgado Corona, at his cantina La Capilla.
In a very low-tech move that we highly approve of, he famously stirred the drink’s ingredients together with the same knife that he cut the lime with. Many write that it is this magical stir with a lime covered knife that really makes the difference!
While we may be a little skeptical that this makes a huge difference to the drink, and the magic may be more about the surroundings and hospitality! We will concede that the knife will be covered with both lime juice and oils from the skin of a lime…so, why not go the extra mile and either stir each drink with a knife coated in lime or add a lime wheel.
