The Mulled Cider cocktail is a deliciously simple concept, with a slightly confusing name. Depending on where you’re from, you might think of cider as an alcoholic, or a non-alcoholic drink.
With this recipe you’ll be ‘mulling’ (infusing with spices) non-alcoholic apple juice. Just make sure it’s the good stuff. Cloudy, rich, and tasty. Not that thin, overly sweet, clear brown ‘apple juice’ from concentrate! Read More
Your favourite spirit is mixed in with the Mulled Cider at the point of serving. This means you have a non-alcoholic base drink that everyone can enjoy, and flexibility for those who want to add alcohol. Without alcohol in the base, your Mulled Cider can also be kept warm for hours without boiling off alcohol. We find it works wonderfully with brown spirits – like Whisk(e)y, Cognac, Rum – and can also be delicious with Gin or Sloe.
Although this is a great winter recipe, there’s no reason to keep it to winter alone. Simply follow the process to warm the mixture and infuse the spices. Allow the mix to cool, then bottle, and refrigerate for a deliciously flavoursome apple juice drink, or use as a mixer for your favorite spirit, served long over ice.
