Liqueur Guide

Spirits that are sweetened and flavoured with ingredients such as fruits, herbs, flowers, nuts, spices and beans including cacao and coffee.

Not to be confused with products like fruit brandies where the fruit is the ingredient that the alcohol is made from through fermentation and distillation. These produce strongly alcoholic and dry spirits with subtle fruit flavours.

Liqueurs use sugar and alcohol to preserve and carry as much as the flavour of the key ingredient, and are therefore rich, viscous and sweet.
